If You Give a Mom a Day Off…

Dear Beloved Husband or Partner,

This is for you…. if you don’t know how to manage giving your over-tired, over-worked, secretly-wanting-a-day-off wife a REAL day off, read below and take notes…

If you give a Mom a day off… Especially during half-term and school holidays, ah hem!

She’ll want to sleep in… Meaning: YOU get up at 5:30am with the littlest monkey!

She’ll want to know the kids are being fed and dressed…

She’ll want coffee…

And some chocolate…

She’ll want to be slightly productive and work-out or something, so she doesn’t feel like she hasn’t done anything at all. It will help her enjoy the rest of the day….

She’ll expect some spa time or at least a spa treatment… If you don’t know what she usually does by now, ring the place she usually goes to…. or simply listen when she laments about never having time to get her hair/nails/waxing done.

She might want to enjoy her mani/pedi, or spa time, with a friend… That COULD be YOU!

She’ll be hungry for a tasty lunch, at HER favorite place…NOT the burrito place.

She’ll feel guilty about spending money on herself… Make sure she know’s it’s 100% your idea! OR make sure you provide food for HER!

She’ll want a nap…  Without yelling, pounding, whining, or kid sounds in the background… (You might want to get help with this Day Off from the in-laws or your folks OR take the kids OUT of the house!)

She’ll want coffee and a healthy-ish snack…

She might want to go see a movie or read a book….

She will wonder about dinner and how the kids are doing…

She’ll be relieved to get a text with a picture of the kids playing happily, and not in their pajamas…

She’ll want an adult beverage…

She’ll be able to think and ponder and work things out in her head and feel like “herself” again…

She’ll be overjoyed when she knows a decent dinner is being made…

OR OR OR OR ….

She’ll be pleasantly surprised when you tell her she needs to put something fancy on to go out on a date with YOU!

She’ll be impressed that you worked out all the details and a sitter…

She’ll be happy…

She’ll be relaxed…

She’ll feel like she won the lottery…

So, if you give a Mom the Day Off, she will probably be happy to let YOU have one off in return!
